Have volunteers imitate the exercises in various forms; first students can just do any of them, the others find the right word. Once the vocabulary has settled in, you can instruct students: “Machen Sie doch bitte...”
Work in groups and first immerse yourself in the respective people as if they were real world people: “Thorsten ist…, Er arbeitet …, Sein Ziel beim work-out ist …”

(1) and (2) After completing these activities, do a survey: “Was macht Spaß, was nicht?” With each question you might also ask back: “Warum (nicht)?”
(3) Several students in your class have probably done crew in high school; have them report: “Was macht Spaß, was nicht? Was muß man an Land (“dry land”) machen? Macht das Spaß? Was passiert bei Regattas?”
