Aktivität 145 Zeit sparen
This refers to one of the principles of lean manufacturing: Wartezeiten vermeiden.
Make sure students understand that this is not supposed to terrorize them, but to show them opportunities for better time management. Remind students that if they save time in one spot, they can free up time to reward themselves with a fun activity, e.g. In summer, if I save 15 minutes in the morning, I can walk to school/work through the park and look at the flowers and birds instead of riding the stuffy bus.

You might want to bring images of other German Verkehrsschilder or pull them up on the screen; ask questions like “Was darf man hier (nicht)?” See if students find a pattern (e.g. red circle: das darf man nicht; red triangle: pass auf!
A follow-up exercise could be to find situations in life that are not optimized, but where it would be hard to implement changes (e.g. check writing at the supermarket, four-way stop signs (point out that this is an unknown concept in the German speaking countries and that there are many intersections without any signs (“Es gilt: rechts vor links”), plastic bags in supermarkets, idling your car, long showers, using the automatic door knob even if you are not differently abled.)
