About the Unit
Aktivität 141 Musikecke: “Das bisschen Haushalt"
Find the video below. As a warm-up exercise, gather household chores from students they already know in German (kochen, aufräumen, etc.) If they haven’t come up add abwaschen, Wäsche waschen, bügeln, im Garten arbeiten, Rasen schneiden. Go around the room and ask personalized questions: “Welche Arbeiten machen Sie zu Hause? Wer macht was? Und in Ihrem Studentenwohnheim/Ihrer Wohngemeinschaft?”
Aktivität 142 Gefahren im Haushalt
(1) Have students identify the central object in each picture (Putzmittel, Fön, …), then do the matching.
Aktivität 143 Unfälle
Here, students learn about common domestic accidents, while practicing their reading skills. Have them look at the questions first, so that the reading is more focused. The bulk of the time should be spent on the last part of the exercise that has students reformulate the advice given in the txt as “sollte” sentences. This can be done either individually or in partner work.
