About the Unit
Aktivität 5: Fragen Sie: Woher kommst du? (Herkunft)/Wo wohnst du? (Wohnort)
You can bring maps of where you are from and where you live to model Herkunft and Wohnort. Read the dialog, stessing kommen and wohnen with the prepositions, point to the images for Geburt and momentan without explaining the grammar (they read about it in LERNEN!). Have students work in pairs to practice the dialogs, varying formal vs. informal. You may choose to model and/or put up a visual of a formal version to scaffold.
Aktivität 6: Berühmte Persönlichkeiten
Introduce the next activity and the verb sprechen. Give a few examples. Then, ask students to complete the activity individually, in pairs, or in small groups. Debrief with the whole class.
Aktivität 7: Fragen Sie: Was studierst du?
Review pronunciation of studieren and the Studiengänge listed on the page. Provide students with any needed vocabulary. Remind them of “Wie sagt man xxx auf Deutsch?”
Aktivität 8: Interviewen Sie 3 Personen.
Students interview their classmates, take notes, and then introduce at least one of the interviewees in small groups or as a whole class. You can give students time to write a few notes down in 3rd person, if additional scaffolding is needed.
Aktivität 9: Das Alphabet
Read the letters aloud. Practice pronunciation. There are many different songs/videos, etc. available for the letters. You can play one or two for the class.
